CHARACTER EDUCATION AT MMS
 
Mountainside Middle School is committed to promoting character education. 
 
  • Promoting the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, Citizenship
  • Reinforcing good behaviors in and out of the classroom
  • Clear school policies regarding bullying and harassment
  • Making connections between character and curricular activities
  • Building character through athletics/co-curricular activities
  • Encouraging healthy habits and life-styles
  • Challenging students to be their best selves and perform to the best of their abilities
  • Making relationships a priority
  • Intentional modeling of good character by staff
  • Responding to two specific Guiding Principles of the Mead School District:
  • "Educating the whole child" & "Fostering civility in our schools"
  • Taking very seriously the first of MMS's Covenant Statements: All members of our school are treated with dignity and respect
