Principal's Message

To The Amazing Mountainside Middle School Students,

On behalf of the staff of Mountainside Middle School, welcome to the 2018-19 school year. You have done a lot to prepare yourself for your middle school years and we are grateful for the opportunity to help you along your educational journey. As the 2nd principal ever in the history of Mountainside, my primary commitment and concern are you students! I feel that together we can focus on three main areas that will allow you to grow and help you have an enjoyable middle school experience: community, compassion, and learning.

We are the Mountainside community! The students, the staff, the parents, the neighbors, the family, and the friends. We are in this together and we need to look out for one another. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful school (this is the 10th year of Mountainside) and together we can keep it that way. In order for a community to work, people need to get involved and play a role. Your role is to push yourself to try new things, work hard in everything you do and encourage others in their endeavors. Try something new while you’re just may find something you love and are really good at!

Also called tolerance, sympathy, empathy, and kindness. We are all human beings and we are all here to have a memorable experience! Look out for your peers and always look to see the good in people. You will undoubtedly have disagreements, but it is how you work through these issues that matter! A solid school like Mountainside rallies around each other when things aren’t going well and lends a helping hand to those in need. Look to how you can give to others while you are’ll have plenty of opportunities!

Of course your job as a middle school student is to learn. Not only will you learn in your spectacular classrooms, but you will also learn in the clubs you participate in, teams you play on, and activities you join. Constantly ask, “Why?” and look to deepen your knowledge in all subject areas. When it is time for you to leave Mountainside and head to high school, it is important that you have all the necessary skills and information that will help you experience success. The staff at Mountainside is committed to teaching you everything you need to know, it is your job to be committed to learning it!

I hope each of you has an amazing year this year and I will do anything to make that happen. If you have questions or concerns, do not hesitate to speak up! After all, it is OUR school!

Have a great year!
