Pet Food Drive

January 11 through February 8. Can donate any pet food, kitty litter, dog/cat treats. Delivery of all items collected will be on February 17. Any student who donates $100 or 1000 pounds of food will deliver the food.

Congratulations to five Mead libraries for winning the LSTA STEM grant. The Washington State Library has awarded 230 science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) collections to schools across the State in order to update library collections. Brentwood, Northwood, Mountainside, Mead HS, and Mt Spokane HS will each receive 50 books from award winning STEM booklists, plus three professional titles for teachers. The grant team looked at the overall age of the applicant's collection with specific interest in the 500-600 section of the library. More than 250 applications were received and only 230 awarded.

ExoWorld Contest Winner

Last year 8th graders at Mountainside Middle School entered an International Astronomical Union contest to name an ExoWorld star and the exoplanet orbiting around it. They won with their entry "Ran" (star) and "AEgir" (planet). These two names were the brainchild of James Ott who is now a freshman at Mt. Spokane High School. Read more . . .

28 wrestlers finished in the top 6 in 19 weight classes. Champions were Jake Carr, Riley Bonser, Riley Buth, Jarrett Sharp, Cy Haney, Nick Dallas and Tyler Dallas. Finishing 2nd were: Cayden Coffield, Jonah Foo, Carter Julien, Tommy Madill, Zane Baker, Cooper Weiland, Ryne Byus, Alexx Riedinger. Coach Murray and Coach Rasmussen were recognized as Coaches of the Year - again!!! Congratulations to all!!!

Math is Cool

Allison Haynie, Jordan Kuhnkey, Connor Peterson and Derek Borst traveled to Moses Lake for Math is Cool Masters. They had a great time and did really well! Derek Borst came in 6th place overall! Congratulations to all! Mountainside is proud of you!

All lost and found clothing is in the commons. It will be donated to a charity on the 18th of December. Please remind your child to look through it for anything they might be missing.
